Peyton Road Watermain Replacement
Client: City of Atlanta | Department of Watershed Management
Project Location: Atlanta, Georgia
Project Description:
City of Atlanta Department of Watershed Management has plans to construct a new facility on Peyton Road that requires more pressure for fire protection. Benchmark Management was selected to design 2600 linear feet of 8-inch D.I.P. watermain to replace a 6-inch cast iron watermain along Peyton Road in order to provide adequate fire protection to the new facility.
Our team chose the new alignment based on surveyed information on existing utilities, GIS data, and plat cards. The mainline design required the relocation and addition of hydrants and isolation valves in order to meet current City of Atlanta standards. The final deliverables included GDOT permitting required for jack and bore under James Jackson Pkwy (GA-280) as well as plan, profile, erosion and sediment control, traffic control design as well as an engineering opinion of probable construction cost. We utilized AutoCAD Civil 3D, Esri ArcGIS to produce final construction documents, and Success Estimator to produce construction cost.
